Patna (Bihar) [India], June 15 (ANI): Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday came down heavily on the double-engine government in Bihar, accusing it of indulging in corruption.
Claiming a lack of accountability in the Bihar government, he stated that the state was being governed by “retired bureaucrats” instead of the “tired” Chief Minister.
“The corruption has intensified so much that there is no accountability left. This government has done away with something called accountability. A tired Chief Minister is not governing Bihar, but retired bureaucrats,” Yadav said while addressing a press conference.
He claimed that bureaucrats getting “wishful transfers” by engaging in corruption had become a norm in the Bihar government.
“Transfer posting…jo chadhava deta hai…usko man main jo hota hai posting ka usko vahan vo milta (only those who pay the money get wishful transfers). Matlab aap chadhava chadhaiye aur posting paiye. Malayi khaiye aur malayi dijiye. This is what has happened in the government here,” Yadav alleged.
In a veiled attack against a retired bureaucrat, calling him the “super CM,” the RJD leader said public representatives are “not being heard.”
Yadav said that no one would be spared if an honest investigation were conducted into the allegation of corrupt practices.
“Public representatives are not heard. The real super CM is DK Boss. The bureaucrats don’t even answer the phone calls of public representatives. Even if they receive the calls, they pay just enough respect since there’s no accountability. Bihar is a poor state, and officers are looting and committing corruption. If an honest investigation is done, no one will be spared,” he added.
Yadav further criticised the ruling parties in Bihar for seeking the votes of marginalised communities without giving them dignity.
“Those who want the votes of backwards classes, extremely backwards classes, Dalits and minorities…don’t want to work for them or give them dignity,” he said.
Assembly elections in Bihar are expected to be held later this year. (ANI)
