Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 7 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister Vishvas Sarang on Monday reacted to a ruckus that erupted during Muharram procession in Ujjain district saying, the state is a place of peace and it anyone tries to disturbs it then it will not be tolerated at all.
He emphasised that no one will be accepted who tries to break the law in the state, and strict action will be taken.
“Madhya Pradesh is a place of peace, and if anyone disturbs peace at any level, it will not be tolerated. There is no problem in celebrating the festival, but if peace is disturbed or tries to break the law, then no one will be tolerated in any way. Strict action will be taken against it,” Minister Sarang told ANI.
Earlier on Sunday, Ujjain’s Superintendent of Police (SP), Pradeep Sharma, said that during the Muharram procession, an organiser attempted to cross the barricades and lead the procession in the wrong direction, resulting in policemen being injured as the barricades fell. Following this, the police registered a case against the organiser and his fifteen companions about the incident.
“On July 4-July 5, the ninth night of Muharram, the entire procession was taken out peacefully. In this regard, continuous meetings were held with the organisers at the control room, police station level, sub-divisional level and at the locality level. Everyone was instructed to take out the procession on the fixed route according to time. Despite this, an organiser attempted to cross the barricades and lead the procession in the wrong direction. Some policemen were injured as the barricades fell. Police used a mild lathi charge to disperse the crowd. A case has been registered against the organiser, Irfan Khan alias Lalla, and his fifteen other companions,” SP Sharma told ANI.
“All of them were present in the meeting held earlier, and all of them were strictly instructed to follow the prescribed route. Despite that, they did it, so a case was registered against them for disobeying the orders of public servants, obstructing government work. Last year, such attempts were also made; they were specifically told to follow the fixed route, but they crossed the barricade and tried to move in the wrong direction. The matter will be investigated and action will be taken as per the facts,” he added. (ANI)
