Kangra (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 25 (ANI): Amid the on-going quest for by-elections, Himachal CM’s wife and Congress candidate Kamlesh Thakur from Dehra has been aggressively campaigning as she held nine street meetings and interacted with the public on Monday.
Addressing the public meeting, Thakur said, “In democracy, the public is Janardan. The public elects’ MPs, MLAs, Pradhans and other representatives. I have come here only to seek the blessings of Janta Janardan. You have to accept my request and vote for me above party ideology.”
Himachal CM Sukhvinder Sukhu’s wife Kamlesh Thakur will take on BJP’s Hoshiyar Singh, who had beaten Congress’ Rajesh Sharma in the 2022 assembly polls, as an independent.
Hitting out at opposition, she stated, “I will complete the 15 months’ gap in six months. Opponents need not worry about where I will meet people. I have land in Dehra, my sister and friends’ houses, my maternal home is in Nalasuha. I can meet people anywhere. Such people will not need to come to me, officers will go door to door to work.”
“I will bring up the problems of the people of the Dehra assembly constituency before the Chief Minister at home and secretariat and get them resolved. People of the area are constantly meeting me and telling me their problems. The problems of road, water and others works will start immediately after the elections,” she asserted.
Urging the residents of Dehra to vote for her, she said, “The former MLA of Dehra has ignored the development of the area. My request to the people of Dehra is that they do not get misled by anyone, vote for Congress and make me win for the overall development of the area. The Chief Minister is from your home, there will be no lack of development. There will be uniform development from Mashroor to Chaplah. Show faith in me, you will never be disappointed.”
In Kamlesh’s meetings, Jwalamukhi MLA Sanjay Ratan, former Congress candidate and State Congress Treasurer Dr. Rajesh also addressed the people and appealed to vote for Kamlesh Thakur.
Earlier, in the day, the Election Department of Himachal Pradesh on Monday announced that a total of 15 candidates, including Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s wife Kamlesh Thakur, are in the fray for the by-polls to be held in three segments — Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalagarh.
The by-polls in the three segments will be held on July 10. (ANI)
